Tar Heels cruise by Spartans

April 7, 2009

North Carolina showed the world who was the best college basketball team in the country last night in Detroit.  Michigan State was overmatched, overpowered, and fatigued, as the Tar Heels won, 89-72.  Basically a wire to wire romping, the Spartans were forced to play from behind for the entire game.  North Carolina had way too much talent on the floor, and combine this with a great coach in Roy Williams, and it is a recipe for a national championship.  The Spartans shouldn’t feel bad, because North Carolina made minced meat out of all of their opponents in this tournament.  In the six tournament games, the Tar Heels won by a combined 121 points.  That is an average of 20.2 points a game! Louisville might have been the number one overall seed heading into the tournament, but UNC’s true colors came out on monday night.

Tyler Hansbrough capped off an incredible four year collegiate career with a national championship.  He is a workhorse, and deserved this championship after four years of a lot of wear and tear.
