Raiders downfall continues
When the Raiders drafted wide receiver, Darrius Heyward Bey with the seventh pick in the NFL draft, I was not surprised. I am sure Al Davis had a lot to do with the selection, and therefore the best receiver in the draft ended up across the bay, in San Francisco. Michael Crabtree was the most heralded receiver heading into the 2009 NFL draft. Darrius Heyward Bey was definitely considered the second best receiver, but he is not a top ten worthy pick. The 49ers got a present when Oakland went with Heyward Bey. Until Al Davis dies, the Raiders will be one of the worst teams in football. The thought of McFadden and Crabtree with an evolving Jamarcus Russell would make a young fierceful trio. I am not saying the greatest show on turf was in the works here, but Crabtree seems to have all the tools to be a consistent pro bowler, and elite receiver. I don’t doubt that Darrius Heyward Bey will have a decent career. However, since Tim Brown retired, the Raiders young receivers are cursed. The promising careers of Jerry Porter, and Ronald Curry took a nose dive, and for Raiders nation I hope the same doesn’t happen with Heyward Bey.
