No more baseball for me

May 7, 2009

After hearing that Manny Ramirez will be suspended for 50 games due to using performance enhancing drugs, I have decided that I will no longer be a baseball fan heading forward.  There is no integrity in the league anymore, and as much as I have always loved the Bronx Bombers, Manny Ramirez was always thought of as arguably the best, and most intimidating right handed hitter in history.  Obviously this was all a hoax as Ramirez has probably been taking performance enhancing drugs for years.  Personally I don’t care whether or not a player uses steroids, or any time of performance enhancement.  These athletes are using these drugs for the sake of entertaining the masses.  “Chicks dig the long ball”.  Remember that commercial with Greg Maddux about ten years ago?  People pay the big money to see homers, and performance enhancing drugs aids players in achieving that goal.  This is a sad day for baseball because another one of the greats reputations from this generation will forever be tainted.

America’s pastime has transitioned from baseball to football.  Ignorance was bliss in the 1990s for me, as I at least got to witness 4 Yankees world series victories in 5 years.  There was no better way to grow up…
