The Golden Nugget

May 16, 2009

The Denver Nuggets will be winning the 2009 NBA championship this year.  Everybody talks about the Lakers and the Cavs being destined to meet up in the finals.  Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and company have something to say about that.  As Denver awaits to play the winner of the Lakers vs Rockets, they have calmly flew under the radar.  For some odd reason, Chauncey Billups is still the most underrated player in the NBA, and until the Nuggets steamroll past the Lakers, he will remain the silent assassin.  George Karl might win coach of the year, and he can thank Mr. Billups for that.  Carmelo Anthony now plays defense, and J.R. Smith has matured in front of our eyes.  Chris “birdman” Andersen has avoided trouble off the court, and the Nuggets are a group that is in sync.  Kobe Bryant will be sour after the Western Conference finals, that is if the Lakers can win in game seven against the Rockets tomorrow night.   All of this is because of Mr. Colorado, Chauncey “smooth” Billups.

Couple things. Hope you don’t mind a little debate, and it’s not because I’m a Lakers fan–though I am, I’ll be upfront with that.

    A) Mike Brown has already won coach of the year. Personally, I don’t agree with that choice, I would give it to George Karl, but what’s done is done.

    B) My Lakers are in trouble, no doubt. Kobe’s knees are tired. Phil doesn’t even seem to care about coaching anymore. Role players like Jordan Farmar and Luke Walton simply aren’t hungry enough. The whole team reeks of apathy, and I’m pretty sure they just expect that if they show up to the arenas on time, they’ll be given the trophy.

They’ll still beat the Rockets. They have too much talent, and Kobe is still Kobe–the best in the game.

That brings us the the Denver – LA Conference Finals that we all want to see.

Let’s say–God Forbid–the Nuggets win. They head to the finals, Billups is the silent assassin, blahblahblah, do you really expect them to beat the Cavs? At nowhere in your post to you explain how the Nuggets can even think about shutting down BronBron. Chauncey will have his hands full with Mo Williams, and I imagine LeBron will run wild in the Nuggets frontcourt.

Just a thought, but I would go one game at a time.

Thanks for listening to me, sorry if I pissed you off.
