Pound For Pound

June 3, 2009

I pose this question to those interested in Boxing. One of the most important questions lingering in the boxing world is who is the best pound for pound boxer in the world. Some argue that Manny “Pacman” Pacquaio (49 (37)-3(2)-2) after his second round destruction of Ricky the “Hitman” Hatton back on May 2nd along with a domination of of multiple weight classes makes him the formidable champion. However it is worth noting that others believe that Floyd “Money” Mayweather is still the best boxer out there after his reemergence from a short lived retirement. But what about the guys that are constantly over looked. “Sugar” Shane Mosley (46 (39)-5-0), Miguel Cotto (33 (27)-1-0), or some of the up and comers like Andre Berto (25 (19)-0). Although boxing has fallen off the radar in recent years much like that of Hockey, it is necessary for the sport to have a serious resurgence in the next year or so or the luster of such a knockout sport may be lost for many years to come. But my question to those of you that read this is, Who is the real #1?
