Orlando runs out of Magic in game 2

June 8, 2009

As Courtney Lee went up for a game winning alley oop with .6 seconds left in game 2 of the NBA finals, the Magic had a split second of hope in this series.  If Lee hadn’t been so strong on the layup, the Lakers and Magic would be knotted up at 1 heading back to Orlando.  The fact that Orlando turned the ball over 20 times and still managed overtime proves to me that this series will go longer than 4 or 5 games.  The Magic are down 2-0, but on a positive note, Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis shot the ball very well last night.  When those two are draining shots, and Dwight Howard is creating wide open shots for his teammates, the Magic are very tough to beat.  I fully expect them to win games 3 and 4 because the transitional game seems to work better in front of a home crowd.  J.J. Redick played pretty well last night, and there is no way Pietrus will duplicate the woeful performance that he had in game 2.

Lamar Odom has shown the world why he is always so coveted as a player.  He has stepped up bigtime for LA, as Andrew Bynum has been in a ton of foul trouble, and unable to find his rhythym that much in these playoffs.  Kobe put up a modest 29 points, but as usual he stepped up when his team most needed him.  When the Magic couldn’t seal the deal with .6 seconds left in regulation, the whole world and their mothers knew that the Lakers would prevail.

I still like the Lakers in 6.
