Magic vs Lakers game 4

June 11, 2009

After watching the Orlando Magic shoot 62.5% percent from the field, and only win by 4 in a must win game 3 at home on thursday night, Orlando is in trouble.  Kobe Bryant will not miss five free throws tonight, and Pau Gasol will definitely get a lot more touches.  Kobe Bryant is known as the best closer in sports, and due to his mishaps down the stretch in game 3, the Lakers were defeated.  Nobody expects a repeat unexpected performance from “the Black Mamba”.  I don’t know if it is the fact that he is 30 years old and has been playing in the NBA for over 12 years, the back to back NBA finals appearances, or the effects of playing in the olympics last summer, but Kobe looked mortal on Tuesday night.  There was something odd about Phil Jackson sitting Kobe for the first five minutes of the fourth quarter in game 3.  Although I expect Kobe to have a dominant performance tonight, the Lakers better keep their eyes and hands on the Magic shooting.  When Orlando is firing from all cylinders and hitting, they are impossible to beat.  Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu have caught fire the last couple games, and Dwight Howard finally put together a respectable game for his standards in game 3. ( 21 points, 14 rebounds).  Rafer Alston, and Mikael Pietrus have regained their confidence, and a game 4 victory would have Kobe and company on their heels.

I expect the Lakers to win tonight by 5, 98-93.  Unless Kobe shocks the world again with an Unkobe like performance, the Lakers will win this series in 6.  The Magic will win one more at home, but I don’t see it being tonight.
